I dropped the weight obsession, and it worked!
March 15, 2022Why are we having lunch for breakfast?
April 10, 2022How many times have you seen or heard this question? Almost every other day on Facebook groups, not to mention friends, family, and random people I meet.
The simple answer is, that there is no such thing! Each type of workout offers different benefits and there isn’t one better than the other unless you are comparing two kinds of HIIT workouts, for example. Even then, this is more of a personal preference rather than a scientific outcome.
Answer me this, what are you looking for? What type of workout will get you out of bed or off the couch while keeping you motivated to move for weeks and months? Whatever your answer is, this is the BEST workout for YOU.
Your body needs a mix of cardio, strength, mobility, and flexibility. A fitness routine should include these elements if you want a well-rounded practice. Cardio can help increase your aerobic capacity, High Intensity Interval Training can help increase insulin sensitivity as well as improve endurance and power, Weight lifting can help increase resiliency to stress, while Yoga and Pilates can help improve mobility and mindfulness.
While there is nothing wrong with picking just one type of workout or class, it is recommended to change things up every now and then.
And remember, what works for you does not necessarily work for others and vice versa. My advice, try anything at least once before you cast your verdict. Most likely, you will fall in love with at least one fitness program if not more.
I will let you in on a secret too; most fitness facilities will give you a complimentary trial if you ask for it 😉
